Smile AI ("we", "our", "us") is a dental health application developed by Samuel Cawley. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Smile AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2.1 Photos and Images
When you use the teeth scanner or food scanner, your device camera captures a photo. This photo is transmitted to OpenAI's API (openai.com) solely for the purpose of AI analysis. We do not store your photos on our servers. OpenAI processes the image and returns an analysis result. The photo is not
retained by OpenAI after processing in accordance with their API data usage policies (openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies).
2.2 Scan Results and Health Data
The results of your dental scan (scores, findings, recommendations) are stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults storage. This data never leaves your device except as described in section 2.1. We do not have access to your scan results.
2.3 Usage Data
We collect basic app usage data such as scan history, daily streaks, routine completions, and food log entries. This data is stored entirely on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
2.4 Purchase Information
If you subscribe to Smile AI Pro, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your payment card details, bank information, or any financial data. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information and can be found at
